Is Coaching Right for Me?

Updated: Jun 25, 2021

Many people considering whether to use a Coach ultimately want to know if this person and the process is going to help them before they take on the mental, financial and time commitment. A number of questions in your head could be:

  • Will my problems go away?

  • Will it be worth the effort?

  • Will it be worth the cost?

What is really important is for you to consider:

Are you at a point in your life where you want to make changes?

The most basic element of coaching is all about making changes going forward. When you are at that point that you are actually ready to move on – working with a coach will help you do this.

Is the new behaviour worth more than the old behaviour to you?

Often, we can feel stuck in certain ways of thinking and processing feelings or it could be that a job or relationship is no longer fulfilling, and we then question whether it has reached a natural conclusion. You may have an overwhelming need to escape but managing the consequences is where a Coach can assist you. What you will have now in terms of feelings and emotions and a way forward has to be worth more to you than the way things were, in order for any long-lasting changes to work well in the first instance and continue to work as well.

Do you have the time, money and head space to commit?

Coaching is a huge commitment to yourself in order for you to feel fulfilled and be the person who you want to be – who you deserve to be. You must be happy to commit the level of time, money energy that the coaching will require from you.

What do you want to achieve from the coaching?

It is important to know what you want to get out of the coaching – if you are really certain you want things to change, a Coach will help you not only identify your needs and build an action plan to help get you there.
