This romantic drama, which was directed by "Rockstar" director Imtiaz Ali, was one of the biggest hits of the year. The movie, which beautifully captured the emotion of love through phases and time, had Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The music of the film, which was much appreciated, was composed by Pritam and the lyrics were penned by Irshad Kamil. Saif played the role of Jai Vardhan Singh with great ease, and the movie has now gained a great following and is counted among the modern classics.
The movie, which is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1914 Bengali novel of the same name, is a romantic drama featuring actors Vidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt alongside Saif Ali Khan. The plot of the film revolves around the characters Lalita ( Vidya Balan) and Shekhar (Saif Ali Khan) who are childhood friends and which slowly blossoms into love, then a series of misunderstandings and the arrival of another suitor, Girish (Sanjay Dutt). The film, which was directed beautifully by debutant film maker Pradeep Sirkar, showed Saif in a role much different than what he had previously done. He portrayed the role with conviction and genuiness, which translated into the film's winning four filmfare awards and the national award for Best Picture.
Love Aaj Kal is one of my favorite Imtiaz Ali films. I think the casting for that film was perfect. No one else could have been better for those roles. And the story was one that I could really connect with because despite living in a modern era, I have always held very traditional views about love. So I felt that LAK portrayed the clash between modern ideas about love and traditional ideals sucessfully. My favorite scene in LAK is the very last scene when Deepika comes down and starts hitting Saif. She is crying and hitting him and hugging him and hitting him again. This was the moment when Deepika really impressed me because she got across her emotions very well.
Spanning from 1990 to 2020, the movie portrays two love stories from widely different eras facing widely different obstacles. One couple battles society`s restrictions while the other must learn to balance work with love, but both portray the same true and unfiltered feelings of love. 350c69d7ab
